I was woundering what do most people consider this war to be. ON the news they call it an invasion, the millitary calls it war for freedom, the Iraqi regime calls it an occupation.

It's really hard to say Toxic.
I think it's all of the above and then a truckload more on top of all that. I think I'll keep it to a minimum for the moment and just say invasion. I think Apocalypse could be one of the options also.
Is it a coincidence that you listed the options like that or did you prioritise them in US order (from top to bottom) :D

Really, a war and invasion are basically the same thing. You can't really invade w/o a war. However I feel it is primarily an invasion. We are goin in w/ one purpse, to disarm and remove Saddam Hussein from power.

Does it matter as long as Saddam rules no more?

Yes it does!

It's a matter of perspective and is arguable, but it really doesn't matter as long as this dictator is removed one way or another. Like t0xic said, everyone has a different take on this war so everyone's gonna view it differently. Nobody is right or wrong so and it just doesn't matter in the big scheme of things.

You are corect but it would have been much beter if the US had actualy done it leagaly.

But that really has nothing to do with what the media calls the war.

I wouldn't be surprised if different regions and different channels call it different things. The term 'occupation', for instance, would be used by a liberal anti-war reporting service, while 'war for freedom' would be used by pro-war services.

Well, I'd say it's unlikely to be an occupation. At worst we'll set up another repressive government that serves our tastes better. Whether this will in fact be a liberation is yet to be seen. I'd bet against liberation too.

The most precise way to describe it is currently "invasion"

It's an invasion. In order to occupy you must first hold all of the territory and I don't think the US is there yet.

I agree with Luke's perspective there. It is an invasion mostly, but we're going to occupy them during the aftermath, just like we do with everyone else and try and set something up that better suits our needs. I'm not saying we shouldn't take out saddam, but how we handle the aftermath sometimes is questionable.
