9ED needs a hard counter with cost less than 4... but which shall it be?

edit: yeah, I expect a Dissipate landslide

I really love Memory Lapse. It's a great staller. Dissipate is probably better overall. But I just love my Memory Lapse and it's ability to win a lot of time. :smile2:

I'll go for dissipate. It won't be as useful as it could have been today (counter goblins in bidding and eternal dragons) but is a nice counter to have around (way better than rewind IMO)

They won't reprint memory lapse because of its interactions with isochron (mirrodin will still be legal, yes?) I'd rather have dissapate because it's a hard counter, actually removing the spell instead of just slowing it down.

I don't agree that 9ED needs a hard counter with CC less than 4. The days of uber-powerful control decks are gone in T2, and I hope WOTC will keep it that way!

Memory Lapse- cause the n00bs don't understand that whole remove from game concept plus Memory Lapse is cheaper

I vote Memory Lapse, simply because it + Isochron Scepter = good times. :D

Well, I think it's more likely that Memory Lapse would get printed in the Core Set than Dissipate...I'm pretty sure that they don't print any cards that involve the 'RFG' Concept in Cores. I'm pretty sure that they pulled Lapse from T2 because of Isochron Scepter, and in that light, it being reprinted seems unlikely. Mana Leak and Rewind will likely stay in 9th; I wouldn't be surprised if Gainsay joins them. Memory Lapse probably wouldn't be that great now anyway, it really stood out during Oddessy when it was a :1mana::symu: Counter vs. any flashback-ed spell, or when it sent Flaring Pain or Moment's Peace to the top of your opponent's library.

Memory Lapse would be more fun.

People also seem to fnorget Memory Lapse's strength as a staller. Aggro-Control decks just love the way the Lapse gives them 'extra turns'.

9ED and Mirroden block will only be legal in the same environment for about 2 months. Isochron Scepter shouldn't be influencing which one you choose. I would expect memory lapse before dissipate.
