I just bought this game for the Xbox, and it is fan-tas-tic....
The world is huge...I just got to the third city, and I would be more than satisfied if there were only two cities. That is how big this place is.
Does anybody else have this game? What are your thoughts on it?
(I know it's been out for the PS2 for eight months, but it's only been out for Xbox for 2 weeks) :)

I've only played San Andreas in passing. I have yet to buy it, and I probably wont. Honestly I'm not that big of a fan of the GTA series. I have Vice City on my PC, but I dont' play it that much.

I feel the PS2 graphics are much smoother than PC or Xbox which both run exactly the same. I think it is a great game that has a huge enviorment but gets redundant around half way through San Fiero.
I don't really like GTA either so I don't own any of them.

I've owned it since about a month after it came out on PS2. I LOVE it. I beat it awhile back, and I play it sporadically, trying to get the good ole 100%.
How far are you MD?
I bought it on Saturday for the PC. I have to agree with Wikipedia's article on it; the controls are definitely biased toward a console controller. Having to hold down a button (in my case, it's the right mouse button) to aim your weapon is retarded. The controls for GTA3 for the PC worked well enough; can we have those back, please?
I also wish the manual had a list of things you're responsible for as the character. So far, I know that you need to get your hair cut, you need exercise, and you need to eat (healthy, ideally). Some of the NPC's I've bumped into have made comments like "I can smell your stink" and that prompted me to spend 15 minutes looking for a way to take a shower.
With the exception of GTA:SA, every video game I've ever acquired gave me a period of at least 72 hours where all I wanted to do was play it. I'm not nearly so captivated by this one, for some reason.

I've heard "Man,you smell like you from England"
As always, pedestrians have some funny comments.
Favorite radio stations? I listen to K-Rose and K-Dst.

I listen to the rock station and the chat station. The chat stations are always hilarious. "Gardening with Maurice" is classic because Maurice was a regular Mexican-sounding guy in Vice City...Now he has the most homosexual-stereotypical voice and is blatently ***. It's funny to think about his transition in life from the mid-80's to the early/mid-90's....Poor Maurice :)
GTA:SA is great...Clearly not my favorite Xbox game ever (That honor is a split between Halo 2 and Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2), but still a great game.
Try San Andreas with the cheat codes...It adds a completely new flavor to the game.

Obviously GTA and cheats go hand in hand. For killing sprees at least, and in previous versions, they fit well in missions as well. however, San Andreas is an easier game, and I'm proud of the fact that I have not cheated once on my save. To beat GTA III and VC I cheated, and I am planning on going back to beat them again, au natural. They are harder tan SA though.

I beat VC without cheats. SA actually feels a little tougher. I guess it's just perspective. My favorite thing to do is use the parachute cheat, then spawn a helicopter, and just fly to my target and parachute down over it. Makes the game go by much faster.

I beat and got over San Andreas ages ago on my PS2...But I still come back to it and mess around once in a while when I just get random urges to have chaotic fun. :)
But are there any differences between the PS2 and Xbox version? Xbox-Fanboy or not, I don't want to get it unless there're some sort major differences, since I already have the PS2 version...

Can we at least agree that GTA III was incredibly difficult without cheats?
Maybe I just sucked...I beat VC and III when I was about 12 or 13 I guess.

Well I beat III without cheats and I thought VC really just wasn't that fun, I actually started SA agains since this thread and I am in Los Santos now, it really is a fantastic game, don't know why I stopped.

You didn't like VC? I relaly liked it. Granted, I think III was better, but II kind of died out towards the end.
SA is the best though.:)
If you want to beat III without cheating, whenever you get to a new part of the city you should get all the hidden packages, and finish the vigilante and paramedic (IIRC you only need to do the paramedic mission from 1-12 once) missions before you start the story missions. That way, you have a minimum of gangs that are pissed off at you while you're doing it and you'll get caches of goodies at your hideout. The Mafia in particular are difficult to deal with once you get out of Portland because of the shotguns.

I bought it the day it came out, its really fun for a while but I got tired of it pretty quick.
