Break This Card, Week 6: Something new

ITS WEEK 6! To review the rules.

You must build a deck that uses the named card as a win condition, or is used in such a way that without the card, the deck would most likely lose.
You must make this a tournament legal deck of the format I specify.
The deck MUST be EMAILED to me at BlackLotusOfDeath@mtg.zzn.com for the entry to be considered.
You MUST include your MTGNews forums name or your deck WILL be deleted.
The deck must be recieved by the date and time specified.
The deck must contain FOUR(4) of the said card.
You are not allowed more than 2 decks a week though. If you all abuse this and everyone sends in 2 decks every week, I WILL restrict it to one deck a week. The main reason I allowed more than one a week is that you might make a deck on Saturday and come up with a better idea on Thursday.
If you live outside of the US, you will not recieve your prize if you win unless you send a SASE.
It is YOUR responsabiliy to make sure I get your deck. Do not ask me if I have it. If your email provider is not reliable, then get Yahoo email. Iwill not answer if you ask if I have your deck and if you continue to do so, will start to delete your decks on site.
You need to send an explaination of how your deck works/wins. Do not expect me to figure out what 60 random cards do.

WE ARE DOING SOMETHING NEW THIS WEEK!
This is an experiment, just to see how it works. This week you must design a deck, with a minimum of 100 cards in it. You are restricted to only one copy of any card. Basic lands do not have this restriction. Your job is to make this deck and let it have some consistansy, reguardless of the one copy rule. Good luck.


The deck this week must be Type 2 legal. ALL SEARCH CARDS ARE BANNED! They are due on Friday, June 1st, at 5:00pm, Mountain Central Time. Happy Deck Building!

You should also probably remove the words "You must use 4 of the chosen card" and "the chosen card must be a win condition."

If the rule does not apply to the tournament this week, just ignore it. I will keep it so that I dont have to remember to add it in for next week if I need to. Have Fun!

when he says no searching cards he means NO searching cards. that means anything that has the words "search ur library for _____ and out it into play or into ur hand"

Any thing that allows you to search through your library is banned. Anything that allows you to search your opponants library is banned. ANY card, that allows you to search for any card is banned. This means Harrow, Eladamri's Call, and all other cards that search for ANYTHING!

Not if it draws off the top of your library. Fact or Fiction is ok. So long as you dont look at the card and then draw it, it is ok. "Then why can we use FoF?" you ask. Because your opponant chosses the piles, and the piles are of the TOP of your library. Keep in mind, entries are judged based on:

Creativity
Effectivness
Effort

Your deck must work, be origanal, and look like you spend more than 5 minutes on t.

just asking, since you didn't quite define that. one more:

Whenever you would draw a card, you may choose Land or Non land. if you do, reveal cards from the top of your library until a card of the named type is revealed. put that card in your hand, and put the rest on the bottom of your library.

If you search for any card or card type, it is banned. Only if you search, if it reveals or discards, it is ok. Basicly, you cant have pick up your library to find the card.

Are they leagal in T2 right now? No. They are not legal this week. I only allowed 6th for week 4 because you all were making Extended decks, and a drop to T2 w/o 6th would be a little to hard for some people to adjust to. So I took it done alittle at a time.

All Card drawing cards are banned.
All Search cards are banned.
All cards that put a card into your hand are banned.
Anything that allows you to draw and extra card or put any card on the top or bottom of your library is banned.

Im sorry about this for anyone who has already made their decks, but I can not go through every card. I will give an extension until next Tuesday.

Now, those rules are simply unreasonable. No seachers means no cards that say "search your library" anywhere on them. It's simple. Bribery is not a searcher.

Im sorry, but there are just too many different cards ro go through. For instance, is Lone wolf banned? We either have 2 options, we can call this week void and start anew on Friday, or I can extend the deadline to give people time to adjust to the new rules. :( I think I will just go back to the normal BTC format next week. This was not as good an idea as I thought it would be.

First, I applaud you for trying something new, and for doing all this in the first place. We complain a lot and you're doing this for free (Negative money, actually, as you have to buy the prizes and mail them out) and I know how much of a pain it is to have people complain about something you put time and energy into and get no compensation out of (I run a dart league and hear one thank you a year, at the banquet. The rest of the time it's complaint after complaint :) )

That said, as soon as I saw this week's topic, I looked at my calendar, reread the rules, and said "no card's worth that" and proptly forgot it. I don't do these for the prizes, I do them because I like making decks, with reasonable drawbacks. For 5 solid weeks you allowed me to express my creativity with the worst cards in magic, and I loved it. This week's contest could easily take me as long as all the others put together, and that's the last thing I'd want to do.

Anyway, that's my 2c. It all depends on what you and the rest of the contestants want, but for me, bring on the crappy cards and let's make some decks.

First, I thought this was an excellent idea. When you said "searchers are banned", it meant cards with text "search your library" are banned. No exceptions, and not hard to understand. Second, why on earth would Lone Wolf be banned?

I know I should be gone, but I had to stop back in to make sure the Lobby was not in complete and utter chaos. I also thought that i would stop be here to answer any questions. That is a typo, I meant to say HOWLING Wolf. It is a creature that says you MAY search your library for up tp three more howling wolfs. It says search right? So that would make it banned. But you will have no extra copies to search for, and it also only says you MAY, so then it is not banned right? Cards like that are way I had to change the rules. Also, I thought that this something new would be interesting. It is not the success I hoped. I will restart with the normal contest next week (acually, It will not start until June 8th due to my absence.) If I do not recieve at least 5 entries this week, I will just consider this week as void. If you have any more questions or comments, IM or PM me. I will check my PM's about once a day.

Who asked if they could use Howling Wolf? It says "Search your library", so it's banned, no exceptions. You would have to be crazy to use that though.

Well with these restrictions there is NO possible way to make a non-dull deck that is actully good. I usually go combo or great snergy. Why did you have to ban searchers?
I would have made mercernaries/rebles and the those elf/merfolk/goblin searchers.... Oh well what can a guy do but not enter? (as long as planeshifter dons't win I will be happy :)
