I am going to add some riddles once I find a certain book...
There may be a prize.
Heres the first one you just answer on the thread when it is guessed I will post a new one please don't post your own riddles and don't give away the riddle resource if you know!
What has roots as nobody sees,
Is taller than trees,
Up, up it goes,
And yet never grows?
Sorry for the double post. I need to say if you know all the answers cause you know the reference please don't answer them all. You now have 24 hours to answer this first riddle.
are these riddles supposed to be about cards?
The up, up, up it goes yet it never grows is either a city or a building
Sorry I was busy yesterday so you got 48 hours to guess:)
These are not about cards however unless it was a coinsidenece.
The answer to the first riddle is: Mountain
I hope some one can guess this one...
Thirty white horses on a red hill,
First they champ,
Then they stamp,
Then they stand still.
Teeth!!!! I think...
don't we have about 30 teeth in our mouth?
fyi: we have 28, 32 counting wisdom teeth
now these are confusing cause they could mean a lot of things, like a stampede?

It's chestnuts. How do I know? I have the book, but I'll try not to use it.

Remember you can take guess's even if your totally unsure.
Heres the next one:
An eye in a blue face
Saw an eye in a green face.
"That eye is like to this eye"
Said the first eye,

so what does it mean?
The first Eye is in the sky, the second is on the ground. I don't know what they are though.
Is it the horizon? I don't remember that being an answer, and I'm too lazy to go check the book.
Nope. But Goat Lord has the right idea.
Answer a Mountain
Um mountain do grow or shrink. As the earth's tectonic plates collide the form mountains and push them upward. And erosion makes them smaller. so it can't be a mountian for the first answer.

Lotus Ims, the book says its a mountain, so its a mountain. Taysir is getting these from a book, and the book gives the anwsers, too.

No, It's an egg. And for the chestnuts one, the anwser is a bit confusing. The book says chestnuts, then says teeth.

He also in turn thought this was a dreadfully easy one, because he was always thinking of the answer.

The egg and darkness riddles were both from The Hobbit. Except, if I'm not mistaken, the answer for the darkness one was "time"... not darkness.

the hobbit is a well known fantasy book and this a website for a fantasy game so a lot of people here alredy know where they came from so its not a big deal LOTS
Well, some people might not have known. There were still a few riddles left for the few people who never read the book. I was waiting for the "What's in my pocket?" one. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted...

omg... I'm SO sorry. I thought he had a book of riddles or something. I didn't mean to ruin the thread. I only recognized those 2 from the Hobbit movie. Thought it was coincidence... I was all proud of myself for recognizing them. Now I feel like a stooge. :(

Silence. Is that right?
How about this... a man is found shot to death in his car with a single gunshot wound to the head. The doors are all locked from the inside, and the windows are up. There are no bullet holes puncturing any part of the car. It was determined, however, that it was definitely murder... NOT suicide. How is this possible?

he was shot in the head by someong outside the car.
then he was put into the car by the killer and then the killer locked the card with that device that shuts down all locks.

Possible answer, but incorrect. Let me add that there were no fingerprints other than the victim's anywhere in or on the car, and it was determined that the victim was killed IN the car.

Ok... it's only been one afternoon, but that's 3 wrong answers, so 3 strikes and yer out.
The answer is: The car was a convertable. Doors locked, windows up... top down. ;)
Here's another one.
A woman leaves her office to go out to her car. There are no lights on in the parking lot. The moon and stars are not in the sky. Her car is jet black, with no lights on. It's on the far side of the otherwise empty parking lot... almost 200 ft away, and parked in front of a black building. Despite all this, the woman can see her car with perfect clarity. How is this possible (no, she's not wearing night vision goggles)

Read it carefully
A man is found dead on the sidewalk. Near him is a mint, a plate, and a shell.
How did he die and why?
Will have more good traditional riddles tomorrow.
Someone shot him with a shotgun and left the used shell there because he wouldn't share his breathmints. I have no idea what the plates for.
hm... possibly. he ate whatever in the shell on the plate. and as an after meal breath mint, he took it, but before he got it, he died from poisining or something.

Is the plate a license plate?
The man was drunk, and tried to er.. eat an egg and a mint, and got hit by a car near a gas station with a friendly tortoise who worked at the U.S. mint so he could buy oysters which conveniently come on dishes.

Here's my riddle
Two identical vehicles,containing one person each, drive off of a dock at the exact same time, and hit the water at the same time. Yet only one person survives. How?

One of the vehicles was and airplane.
Uhh, Only one of these people know how to swim.
They both know how to swim, lets just say the 2 people were both in the same physical condition. And the vehicles were identical too.
the survivor is the person who watched these two vehicles do this

1 guy jumped out before his vehicle hit the water.
Another possibility is that one guy was already dead.
One man was wearing his seatbelt?
One car drove off the dock sideways into shallow water?
One man was bleeding and eaten by a shark?
A comet hits the earth, decimating all life aside from the one man in a space shuttle orbitting the earth?
This is one of those many multiple answer riddles, so lets narrow it down. They landed in close areas, near each other. THey were both alive. Nothing ate them. They were both wearing seat belts. THey both went underwater. And by 1 survivor i mean out of the 2 vans that went underwater.
(i gave a secret hint in there, look for it)
Only one person tried to escape?
ok then, both tried to escape. None of them were mentally unstable.
more than likely, the hint was the van part...
either way, I give up, I've exhausted all reasonable possibilities.
except...
they were different docks...
and (since you said they landed close together) one was on the inside of a closed canal, and one was from land to the ocean.
That wouldn't include the van hint idea, though.
Yes, the hint is the "van" part. Here's a hint. What do vans have over non convertable cars.(related to escaping vehicles)

one of the vans doors were locked and they were electric doors and the other vans were unlocked so only one of the people could escape there vehicle
One guy tried to use his drivers side door, and the other used the sliding side door?

Errr... that one was two easy. So is this:
A boy and his dad get in a car accident. The dad dies, and the boy is rushed to the operating table for surgery. But the surgeon, upon seeing the boy, says "I can't operate on this child. He is my son."
Very easy. The surgeon is the mom.

I have 2 riddles for you to solve. the first one is pretty easy and the second one is IMPOSSIBLE. If you know the second one, you either have heard it before or you are a genuis! anyway here is the first one. I dont know if these have been said but here they are
1. I rot growth and I grow rot. What am I? (this one is very easy)
2. You are in a room that has no doors or windows. all that is in the room is a mirror and a table. How can you get out of the room? (hint: nothin to do with magic)
1: Mold?
#2: Look in the mirror, see what you saw take the saw, cut the table in half, put the two halves together to make a whole and crawl out that hole.

It was Oedipus, he did kill his dad, marry his mom, and ended up poking his eyes out with pins. Not a pleasant story, but that's what they teach you in high school.
