[Official Thread] Green White Slide

Ok has anyone here looked at green white slide in extended? The possiblites are amazing. And some of the new creatures from kamigawia are amazing with the slide ability. Hokori creates a stasis affret which is just unfair. Dosan the falling leaf is also amazing here because you rarely play spells to begin with and if you need to you can simpley slide him. Of course yo have witness and things like that. Just think of all the amazing come into play abilities out there. And you now in extended have enchantment search. I will posting my drunken monk list soon but this is just to get some ideas rolling.

Finally someone starts the thread.

I really want to get this deck running when the rotation hits. Its seems like it will be a good deck(As it was when it was in T2)

Mistform_Elf 05-17-05 22:03

White has angel to slide (I can't remember the name of morph angel in onslaught)
Green has biggg beasts to slide, just name it, krosan cloudscraper, bla bla..
What else?

RavangerDestroyer 05-18-05 17:59

Exalted Angel is what you are looking for....

Krosan Tusker
Enternal Dragon
Decree of Justice
Renewed Faith

Those are some cards to look into using.

Rat-OF-God 05-19-05 12:53

w/g slide would be good especially with SoK "comes into play cards"

I'm not sure what I think about this deck yet. The original WG version was designed to beat Affinity, constantly recurring Viridian Shamans and Eternal Witnesses to reuse artifact destruction. And while I do see that Affinity is going to be hot in the new Extended, I wonder if it will be as big a factor as it was when WG Slide was in its prime.

Does WG Slide gain anything by becoming an Extended deck?

Rout? Slide always wanted a second mass removal option and only relied on Vengeance because it cycled as well -- but hated it all the time since it killed whatever enchantment pieces you had already fetched up. You can't get Starstorm since it's GW.

Sterling Grove or Eladamri's Call? Tutoring that not only is in-color, but also nicely costed, and can get either Slide or protect it, depending on which you need. The Call can find you an early Eternal Dragon to abuse, or an Angel in the late game, or a Witness ... whatever you need.

No Enlightened Tutor though. And I don't think you can use the new Epic enchantment-fetcher, as it leaves you without a win condition (unlike WR Slide). But the deck will probably see some tweaked decklist and see some play because of how well it does against Affinity.

Eternal Decree....(aka G/W Slide)

4 Astral Slide
4 Eternal Witness
4 Decree of Justice
4 Renewed Faith
3 Akroma's Vengeance
4 Krosan Tusker
2 Eternal Dragon
1 Deranged Hermit (can be changed post-rotation)
2 Solemn Simulacrum
3 Disenchant
2 Viridian Shaman
3 Mirari's Wake
1 Phantom Nishoba (add another to replace the Hermit)

4 Brushland
12 Plains
9 Forest

In playtesting, this is really, really funny. Targeted creature kill? Laugh at it. Overrun decks? Match 'em. For the random person that plays Standstill in his U/B deck? Wait him out, then drop a million Soldiers on his head. Counterspells shouldn't be too feared, because you don't actually cast very many spells...the biggest weakness I see is to fliers. This is also a fairly cheap deck to make, with only a few rares, most of which aren't too expensive. I think the Witnesses, as a group, cost more than the rares (nearly).
This is gonna be my post-rotation deck, because my other deck is going to hell in a handbasket. (*sob* Enchantress)

think dosan, the falling leaf and horki dust drinker. completely ridiculus

Scrye had Akroma's Vengence posted @ $20 each when i got my two... And Decree was $12, and Dragon's are $8... Witness is only $4 to $6.

I used to have a G/W/R slide deck, and i loved beating everyone over the face w/ it. If i ever get around to rebuilding it, i'll drop the red, and try to help ya'll w/ playtesting.

Land-Destruction 07-25-05 15:02

well Im not exactly sure but the rock seems to be splashing red now for flametounge kavu. I think that it wouldn't be a completly bad idea for this deck either you cycle a card, remove the flametounge from play it comes back and then boom you got rid of one of there creatures it could be very helpful againts agro. There is also a creature from torment I believe when it comes into play you gain 4 life. Looks like a good card against RDW

massive 07-31-05 07:25

The original build of Astroglide (boy this is going back in time, prepare the Wayback Machine!) used both Teroh's Faithful (the gain-4-life dude LD is referring to, from Torment) and Pardic Arsonist, which served as the "Flametongue Kavu" in the deck. They both eventually fell out when people realized Exalted Angel gave them plenty enough lifegain, and that the only real continuous source of removal you needed was Lightning Rift.

This deck, however, doesn't benefit from having Lightning Rift. *laugh* And I think if I was splashing red into it, that would probably be my first choice.

Now, that being said, you COULD look into a WGr version of the deck. You already are probably running Krosan Tusker or Rampant Growth or whatever to help fix your mana, and really the only red you need is for Lightning Rift. You probably don't need any of the mass removal spells that red cycling gives you (Slice and Dice or Starstorm) since you've got Wrath / Rout / Vengeance.

could be good...

From ravnica spoiler:
==================================================

Loxodon ??? 2WG

Creature — Elephant Cleric (icone Rare)

When Loxodon ??? comes into play, gain 4 life.
WG, Sacrifice Loxodon ???: Regenerate all creatures you control.

4/4

==================================================

can be very useful to have a guy that give you 4 life everytime he slide out...

Haunting Echoes 08-25-05 19:50

Sterling Grove is great for the deck, not only can it tutor, but protect anything else later on. And when they target Sterling Grove with enchantment removal(which they kind of have to), you can search for another Grove or another slide. Definately a good idea.

The Piano Guy 08-25-05 20:43

From my testing, the deck should basically be GW and then have red for strictly lightning rift and maybe a few sb options. It will work very nicely because Ravnica will be printing the RW and the GW dual lands. You probably won't be running many actual plains.

This seems to be a good creature for life gain, but for now, you can get same effect with Teroh's Faithful.
