[No Clan] The Dragas Mercenary Camp

(OOC: If you are wondering, this is actually a mercenary group as of right now, free for hire by any of the clans! For a limited time only, you can nag these bad boys up to fight for your cause!)

================================

Race Name: Dragas

Life Span: 90-130 years

Titles:
Nil (Worker)
Il (Soldier)
Tal (Commander)
Kil (General)
Ket (Overlord)
Mek (Mage)

Common Male Names:
Ruhk, Tek, Bek, Kritz, Nazh, Ynik, Zeb, Grendo, Umtro, Uhkyo, Retz, Weizeg, Danzezg, Zizit, Chektoit, Ruktz, Kirtok, Koeaertz, Cluzkeaez, Niitor

Common Female Names:
Noshale, Tanre, Roteh, Borrteh, Rizhe, Doonale, Meleh, Gemzhe, Zhineh, Uuzhe, Makrasheh, Juzhen, Juzheyn, Zhen, Gyunun, Cluzkuzen

Appearance:
The Dragas stand roughly 5' to 6' tall, and slightly resemble that of a dragon. They have long, football-shaped heads, elaborate horns above the eyes and on their snout, and fancifully colorful spreads across their heads and cheek bones. They lack wings, but they make up for it with incredibly strong legs and arms, giving them the ability to jump great heights and induce a great amount of strength into their swings and punches. They have strong scales that cover their body, but weak joints and a very soft front body, which makes them vulnerable to attacks to the chest, midsection, waist, and inner arms and thighs. They have short nubby tails, and they stand on the balls of their forefeet. Their scales range in color from red, green, orange, brown, yellow, and even purple and blue.

Background:
The Dragas are a militaristic race of dragon-like creatures from the far east. They are greeted by their respective titles when in battle, and their entire lives are centered around their tireless campaigns. When they don't fight, they ritualize "The Hunt", where they vicariously hunt the strongest warriors and creatures they encounter. They are born warriors, and taught the ways of their people at a very young age. They grow up learning to fight, and by the time they reach 10 years of age, they are fully grown warriors.

The Dragas are born Nil, and work hard at what they do. As they train, they either earn their place as Il or remain Nil. If a Dragas remains a Nil, they become trained in the skillful crafts of forgery, construction, mechanics, and other necessary survival and scholary skills that the Il don't learn. Nobody's skills are ever overlooked and no Dragas is ever wasted. If you don't work, you are outcast from society. If the Dragas trains hard and becomes an Il, then his skills are focused on that of the warrior, and he may advance further up the hiearchial ladder of power, from Tal, to Kil, to Ket. The Nil that don't make it to Il can attempt to train to become a Mek, or a Mage of the Dragas. The Mages become adept in the arcane arts and sciences, and devote their lives to perfecting those skills which aid them in their campaigns and conquests of distant lands.

One of the downfalls of the Dragas is that they are seperated into three clans, each having been at war with each other for almost a century now. They fight tirelessly among their kind, and if they were to ever unite their people, they would become an unstoppable force upon the land. Tak Savet, The oldest of the three clans, Is made up of powerful warriors. They focus strongly on becoming adept spear throwers, swordsmen, and Jumpers. They wear armor of jet and onyx, which is light and powerful, but leaves their vitals exposed. Byzan, or "That of the dedicated," focus their skills and arts strongly among their Nil, who use machine and mechanics to do their bidding. They often bare armor of green and blue, that offers more protection then their Tak Savet rivals, but covers more of their vital areas. Voshi, the last of the three clans, have focused their powers into the arcane, and boast a powerful army of of Mek. They often wear heavy armor of red and grey, and are the most protected, but slow and clumsy the armor makes them.

There have been rumors that the outcasts of the three clans have come together to form a shadow clan known as the Mallox, who some have claimed have learned how to tap into the dark arts of the land, allowing them to wield powers unspoken of on this plane.

================================

Character Name: Tal'Zek (Zek the Commander)

Specs
Age: 42
Height: 5' 2"
Weight: 96 lbs.

Dragas Specific
Clan: Byzan (Former)
Rank: Tal (Commander)
Command: 12 (8 Il, 4 Nil) [Currently in control of a small Squadron]

Currently Allied to: None
Currently Hired to: None

Description: Tal'Zek is a typical Dragas. Sleek, muscular, and quick. Light on his feet, he moves with purpose as he keeps his small detachment in top shape. Tal'Zek has a reddish-brown tinge to his scales, and another set of blue that follows a distinct zig-zag pattern across his back. He has removed much of the protective plating that covers his vital areas, but leaves his armor lighter, and allows better jumping and quicker movement on his part. A long pole-arm with a dragonwing-shaped blade is his only weapon, but he uses it with grace and speed, much like a monk would.

His command of Il have associated weapons, 4 using a similar pole arm, while the other 4 use a short sword and light round shield. His command of Nil are very sharp, and have their supply of blacksmithing tools and technical "Know-How" to help maintain armor, weapons, and otherwise construct a small outpost which the Dragas' are now stationed at, somewhere at some point between the Warring Clans.

================================

Tal'Zek, having been scouting out much of the land and learning the local languages, has become an adept of his surroundings. After several hours of training and practice, Tal'Zek teaches the rest of his squadron how to speak the local languages. Zek's Nil tirelessly transcribe the information within books and tomes to share the knowledge of their enemies with his Clan when they arrive.

At this particular moment, though, Tal'Zek and two Il were in the nearby woods, hunting for their next meal.

Tal'Zek: "Zhuzen!* Up ahead, near the tree..."

Tal'Zek had eyed out a large game animal, perhaps an elk of some sort. Motioning his Il to left and right flanks, Tal'Zek had continued forward as he prepared his spear to throw. A small twig cracking made the elk pause in fear, and with a cat-like grace, Tal'Zek lept into the air twenty or so feet, and threw his spear with marksman accuracy.

The Elk didn't even see it coming. The spear pierced through the wind, and struck the neck of the elk, bringing the beast down before it even knew what hit it. Approached the wounded beast, and then quickly snapped its neck to end its pain. Dragas' were firm believers that no creature should have to suffer before death, so quickly ending a wounded or otherwise unrecoverable foe was an honorable cause.

About an Hour later, The Tal returned with four beasts, enough for the squadron to feast for at least several days. It was during the meal, though, that Tal'Zek explained to his detachment about the need to blend with the society, if not to make money and otherwise throw this enemy off from the Dragas' true intentions to conquer the land in the name of the Byzan. He discussed his plan with his cohorts.

Tal'Zek: "As you know, we are known within the lands, but as of now, we appear to be Mercenaries. Thus, we shall play the part. I've spread word that our small detachment is available to be hired out by the locals for needs in eliminating their enemies."

Il'Ruktz: "But why should we ally ourselves with our enemies? This plan doesn't seem to make sense. Are we not here to survey and retrieve information of our new enemy?"

Tal'Zek: "Yes, we are. But we cannot allow them to come of our true intentions. For now, we must get to know our enemy by allying ourselves with the enemy. There's an old saying that goes, 'The enemy of my enemy is still my enemy; thus, my first enemy will be my temporary ally.' We should hold true to this, my brothers. We will get to know our enemies before we make our move."

Il'Ruktz: "Dast Tal.* Your word is always final! But until then, what should we do?"

Tal'Zek: "We wait... and we prepare."
