R/B burning inquiry deck

I have been playing online alot as of late and i ran into this little gem in the casual room and I have to say it is something else. So after getting the basic just of the deck I decided to build a version i think is probably similar to a version out there here we go:

spells:
4 x burning inquiry
3 x terminate
2 x earthquake
4 x blightning
3 x sign in blood
4 x lightning bolt

enchantments:
4 x megrim
4 x underworld dreams

artifacts:
4 x veinfire borderpost
4 x howling mine

creature:
4 x kederekt parasite

lands:
3 x dragonskull summit
8 x swamps
9 x mountains

This is the version I am currently playing of this deck and I have to say it is quite powerful. What i like about this deck is that with just a megrim and a underworld dreams, one burning inquiry does 9 dmg. Now just having megrim out and blightning does 7 dmg plus discard two cards. The heart of this deck is definite the burnings. I put in earthquake as aggro deterent plus a later game dmg spell. Lightning bolt does its creature removal or skull cracker as usual. The parasite is nice because he is mostly flagged as a issue. Most of the time i don't even have a red permanent out to make use of him but when i do look out. The borderposts work to help fuel the parasite but also fix my mana for underworld. 3 black is a pain but not as bad to get as you would think. I haven't taken this deck into the tournament area just yet because i am waiting for stardard to become new with zen. There is no point testing against decks that have no merit. The plus side this deck has is alot of counters are rotating out that would be trouble. Only really negate being a huge issue. There might be more enchant hate coming but so far this whole standard has been very light on it. Now the black hate that floating around could do dmg but that is what sb duresses are for to deal with those issues. With this deck you are mostly goldfishing by yourself. Your opponents actions really don't matter too much unless your about to die. Just keep with the gameplan of gunning down your opponents life and you should be just fine. Also this deck is capable of dealing huge amounts of dmg out of nowhere. I have used burning to deal about 10+ in a single turn based on what i had on the field and it really isn't that hard to. Just food for thought for those that haven't seen this deck. It can bite and bite hard of out nowhere. Have fun and I hope you give it a shot.

I think I would take out the Borderposts in favor of 2-3 more lands. I do like this idea of a deck, and have gone up against it. You will need some other type of kill mech though. Maybe something like Banefire to finish them off. And with no other creatures besides the Parasite, I'd also suggest running some Volcanic Fallouts.

Apprentice Download OCTGN Download MTGO Download
Deck
Lands : 23
3 Dragonskull Summit
3 New B
10 Swamps
7 Mountains

Creatures : 4
4 Nyxathid

Other Spells : 32
4 Underworld Dreams
4 Megrim
4 Burning Inquiry
4 Blightning
4 Terminate
4 Volcanic Fallout
3 Doom Blade
4 Duress
2 Banefire
Sideboard :
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Thought Hemorrhage

Kind of what I'm running on my R/B Pitch deck shown here. We'll of course use different kill mechs, but it still has the same type of idea. I'm still a little iffy on the SB. But this is the gist of the deck.

Oh and before somebody else gets you. Might I suggest using the deck tags. Just before and after your deck type [*deck] and [*/deck] omitting the *.

*edit*
Actually now that I'm looking at your deck, take out the Parasite all together. You wouldn't have any red permanents now. Sub them for Nyxathid.

Thnx for the comment rabbit, only problem I have is i really like howling mine in the deck which gives me answers to my opponents and this deck can get tough draws down the line when it runs out of gas. Howling mine solves two problems with gas and also more card draw with underworld. The parasite is kind of out of place i do agree with that. I might switch it up for duress in that spot. If i do that then i will replace the borderposts because they won't be needed. I just find the parasite to be quite frustrating for opponents. I will probably rock it creatureless if i remove the parasite. I just don't much care for the nythalid in this deck. Just personal preference. I do still think the deck is a bruiser and you probably know what i mean.

I see your idea on that. Then in that case cut Nyxathid, add 2-3 Haunting Echoes and maybe 1 more land at that point. I just don't think howling Mine would be too good, without Underworld Dreams. I know it gives you answers, but it also gives your opponent the opportunity to topdeck something good. However, with echoes you can literally mill them and discard everything at the same time. Just another option for you.

Why isn't Diabolic Tutor or Sign in Blood not in your sideboard at least? I love this card in mono-black hand control. My favorite little combo with this card is playing Mind Rot right after it. Especially with Megrim and Dreams on the table.
Since you're playing Standard, it's too bad The Rack rotated out, or that would be a great addition to this deck.

I agree with a lot that Rabbit had to say. I would just like to say, you really do need more black sources than red. Here is why. The number of spells you have that require black versus red is fairly even: 22 versus 21. However something to note is the fact that your deck has 7 spells that require at least double black to cast and none that require double red. Hence I think it would be a good idea to have at least a couple more sources of black mana than red.

Just one thing to note, Rabbit. I kinda like the bolts mainboard as it kills the new Carnophage card. But that is thinking down the road. But yah, definitely replace the borderposts. You would normally cast them at the same time you cast stuff like Underworld Dreams or Megrim or Blightning....well you get my point. A few lands are probably better there, probably swamps.

The mana base was just a first attempt and i do agree on the more black sources. As far as that goes yeah i will probably revamp the deck to work the mana base better. I will be adding one more dragonskull and probably removing the borders for lands, then replacing the parasite for duress. I figure that would be more suiting to the deck. I will playtest that a bit and see how that goes.
